This eLearning course will provide participants with the underpinning knowledge they require to administer emergency medication for the treatment of seizures in the community.
In this course, participants will learn about the different epilepsy plans, and the different emergency medications, their routes of delivery, and their potential impact on the individual.
Participants must complete the following pre-requisite course prior to registering for this program:
Understanding and Managing Epilepsy
Course Duration: 30 minutes
Learning Outcomes:
- Will provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to administer emergency medication for the control of seizures in the individual
- Understand the prescribed emergency medications, their side effects and potential impacts on the individual
- Read and understand an Epilepsy Management Plan (EMP)
- Read and understand an Emergency Medication Management Plan (EMMP)
*To be competent in the Administration of Emergency Medication, participants must complete all three aspects:
- Understanding and Managing Epilepsy (e-Learning or Trainer-led)
- Administration of Emergency Medication Theory (e-Learning or Trainer-led)
- Administration of Emergency Medication Practical (Trainer-led)
